  1. This is the Hooken Cliff landslide. BGS National Landslide Database ID 354/1. It took place in March 1789 in porous chalk and Greensand above the clay-like Mercia Mudstone and Penarth Group. This landslide appears on our geological maps and there are a range of references detailing the landslide:
